DESCRIPTION:Submission begins on January 31\, 2026. Submission Deadline\, March 14\, 2026. Exhibition runs from April 4\, 2026 through April 25\, 2026 \n\n\n\nELIGIBLE WORK: Open to all artists (over age 18) in all media. Work must be recent and not previously shown at the Art Alliance. Works to be hung may not exceed 48″ wide x 72″ high (inclusive of frame) and not exceed 75 lbs.\, must be completely dry\, suitably framed and ready for hanging. Synthetic glass is required for all works that measure over 18″ x 24″\, if normally covered with glass. Sculptors must bring stands with accepted work on receiving day. Original work only: NO REPRODUCTIONS. \n\n\n\nJUDGE: Gail Stavitsky\, PhD\, Chief Curator \n\n\n\nDr. Stavitsky has worked at the Montclair Art Museum (MAM) since 1994. She oversees the Curatorial Department and stewards the American Art Collection. Recognized as a scholar of American modernism\, Dr. Stavitsky curated and served as the primary author for Matisse and American Art (2017)\, the first exhibition and catalogue to examine the profound impact of the French master upon American artists from 1907 to the present. She led the curatorial team for Cézanne and American Modernism (2009)\, the first exhibition and publication to examine fully the influence of Paul Cézanne upon modern American artists from 1907 to 1930. Dr. Stavitsky also curated the first comprehensive retrospective of Will Barnet’s work in 2000 and wrote the accompanying catalogue\, Will Barnet: A Timeless World. \n\n\n\nPreviously\, Dr. Stavitsky served as curator for exhibitions at the Carnegie Museum of Art\, The New York Public Library\, The Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and Grey ArtGallery at New York University. Original work only: NO REPRODUCTIONS. \n\n\n\nJUDGE: DEBRA J. FORCE is a specialist in traditional American Fine Art of the 18th through the 20th Centuries. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University\, and a Master of Arts degree and doctoral work from the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Force became Director of the CIGNA (formerly INA) Museum and Art Collection\, a distinguished corporate collection of traditional and contemporary American art in Philadelphia. She served as Senior Vice President and Head of the American Paintings Department at Christie’s in New York\, followed by the position of Director of American Art at Hirschl & Adler Galleries\, Inc.\, New York. She became Director of Beacon Hill Fine Art\, a new gallery devoted to American art in New York. In 1999\, Ms. Force formed Debra Force Fine Art\, Inc. (New York)\, which presents exhibitions\, partici- pates in art fairs\, and has extensive inventory of American paintings\, drawings\, and sculpture\, while also providing appraisal and consulting services in all related areas of American art. She has appeared as a specialist appraiser for Antiques Roadshow\, the PBS series produced by WGBH\, Boston\, for over 25 years.
