Delta Blues

Description: “DELTA BLUES” 30″x40″ is a large statement piece. I wanted to capture the cool blues and greens of the slow moving Mississippi at the mouth of the river. As I painted, I listened to the folk music of the Delta. This area in our country is the birthplace of unique American music. During times of river flooding and hard times in the South, many blues artists wrote songs about those disasters, and they sang their songs, as they toiled and worked to regain their homes and communities after those floods. I wanted to depict the Delta AFTER the flood, during a renewal and revival period, when the river was calm and the day was sunny, when all the troubles were behind them….for a spell. (This painting is signed on the side, to be hung as the viewer/buyer may see it, perhaps in a different orientation.)

Come Fly With Me

Description: Come Fly With Me Mixed Media on Canvas From the series Dreams in Flight In Come Fly With Me, layered collage, acrylic paint, and drawn elements create a narrative landscape where memory, imagination, and cultural history converge. Figures from different eras—children, performers, and historical icons—appear within a celestial environment of planets, wings, and flight imagery. Part of the Dreams in Flight series, the work reflects the universal desire to rise beyond limitation and follow one’s creative calling. Through vibrant color, symbolic imagery, and richly textured surfaces, the painting celebrates the enduring human impulse to dream, transform, and take flight.

Oceanic River

Description: The ocean blends the colors of blue and green into ever changing shades of teal, influenced by temperature, salinity, pressure and marine plant life. The rhythm and flow of these parameters creates currents and streams within our vast oceans, which influence life on our planet. “Oceanic River” portrays the interdependence existing within our oceans, vibrational movements displayed through the use of layered teal shades (a mixing of only four colors, blue, green, dark blue, and white) and texturing using weaving patterns of acrylic paint representing underwater rivers. This piece aims to portray the vital role of our oceans and seeks to connect us to the vibrational energy of our oceans.

A Saturday Morning

Description: This piece is entitled, “A Saturday Morning”, and is extremely personal to me; as it is about navigating through complex pathways such as overcoming addiction, self-reflection, moving on and letting go. Growing up, I always was fascinated with graffiti and finding art that seemed to be in secret and hidden places, for example, what I would see under overpasses while being in the back seat of the car, or things I later discovered as I adventured out more into the world. As I got older, I was exposed to illustrators and fine artists like James Bama, Timothy Jahn and Peter Carras, and their work inspired me to create the type of art I wanted to make. I lost passion for representational work during my worst years and stylistically pivoted towards abstract and urban style street art when my path crossed a group of graffiti artists. This became my artistic outlet for a few years and a way to continue being creative. I now revisit these avenues contributing my own artistic style back into the art community. This piece is a culmination of my representational training as well as my former life pursuing graffiti art.

Zen Botanical

Description: I am fascinated by the natural world and its infinite variety of patterns and textures. This fascination is evident in the recurring motifs of flowers, leaves, and other organic elements that weave their way through my work. However, I am not interested in simply replicating nature. Instead, I strive to create a stylized and abstracted interpretation of the natural world, one that is infused with my own personal sense of energy and rhythm. Each piece begins with a carefully constructed foundation, often incorporating geometric shapes and lines to provide a sense of order and balance. Within this framework, I then layer intricate details and vibrant colors, creating a dynamic tension between structure and spontaneity. I am particularly drawn to the use of Zentangle patterns, which allow me to achieve a high level of detail and complexity while maintaining a sense of harmony and flow. In “Zen Botanical,” the delicate lines and intricate patterns of the flowers are juxtaposed against the bold geometric shapes of the background. This creates a sense of visual tension that draws the viewer’s eye deeper into the composition. The use of complementary colors further enhances the visual impact of the piece, creating a sense of vibrancy and energy.
