Brittany James grew up painting along the New Jersey Shore. She works primarily in oil paint and holds a BFA from Montclair State University. Her paintings typically reflect women’s relationships with nature and society. Much of her work focuses on gender stereotypes, inequality, objectification and oppression of women. 

In addition to painting, Brittany teaches art classes for teens at Inspired Minds in Colts Neck. She also teaches painting and life drawing classes at art629 Gallery in Asbury Park where she curates local art exhibitions. She received the Outstanding Educator in Visual Arts Award from Monmouth Arts in 2022. Brittany has painted live on stage at multiple theaters during musical performances in NJ. Her work has been shown in many galleries in the New York tri- state area including the Monmouth Museum. Her public murals can currently be seen in Asbury Park, Seaside Heights, Bradley Beach, Union Beach, and Keansburg.  BrittanyJamesArt.com
