Julia Muench is a multi-disciplinary, visionary artist and creator,
based in Leonardo, New Jersey. She works with various types of
sustainable fiber, fabrics, repurposed materials, glass mosaic,
beads, and other sustainable materials. Her images and
techniques are unique: geometric, yet whimsical. At times, her
artwork can surprisingly form an image from it’s geometric
components. https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/julia-

My creative work in general, is fiber based using a combination
sustainable and repurposed materials such as: wool, linen, cotton,
hemp fiber with other mixed media materials. Whether I am
creating a quilted tapestry or a hooked rug pieces, I use a
combination of rug hooking techniques and wool materials ( strips
and yarn). In my quilted tapestries.
I like to challenge myself in my work so that a particular piece can
emanate a powerful esthetic radiance with or without a certain
narrative. For me, color is a transformative energy and I work
towards expressing this powerful energy through the observance
of it’s transformation within the forms and patterns I decide that I
want in a piece.
How does a work go from the more subjective out into the world
to reach the viewer? Does the narrative need to be in place
before the viewer is affected? I am going to challenge that.
